About the Game & Mascot Plop

Last updated:

Poople Ladder is a free, unofficial fan-made word game and is not affiliated with Poople. We bring word puzzle enthusiasts a charming daily challenge driven by deterministic puzzle generation and an open, reliable word list.

Guiding your journey is Plop, our rubber duck companion who celebrates clever rungs and cheerily marks every par completion as you navigate from the day’s start word to POOP.

Our accepted dictionary builds upon the open-source wordlist-english package derived from SCOWL, under the MIT license. We curate four-letter lowercase words and apply the MIT-licensed bad-words filter to keep gameplay welcoming, with POOP intentionally included as our playful goal.

Mascot Plop & Daily Design Philosophy

Plop is our cheerful rubber duck mascot who accompanies every rung of your climb toward POOP.

We designed the puzzle experience to be welcoming, quick to load, and completely focused on relaxed word play.

The Daily Routine

A single puzzle arrives every day at 00:00 UTC for all players worldwide. With everyone tackling the same starting word, friends can compare step counts and solution routes fair and square.

Zero Friction Architecture

Playing requires no account creation, passwords, or personal profiles. Everything loads fast as a static client application that saves progress directly in your local browser storage.

Curated Dictionary & Engine

Every puzzle relies on a deterministic graph engine that guarantees solvable shortest paths to POOP.

Our vocabulary balances fairness and variety, ensuring every starting rung can reach the goal in three to eight par steps.

Dictionary Lineage

Our 2,247 accepted words originate from the MIT-licensed wordlist-english package based on SCOWL data up to size 35 and 50. Common English words form the ladder network, while obscure acronyms and archaic forms are pruned.

Friendly Word Filtering

To keep puzzles suitable for broad audiences, we filter the raw dictionary using the MIT-licensed bad-words library while deliberately preserving POOP as our playful destination.
